I needed a sub for two consecutives days on a Thursday and Friday. No sub showed up! On Thursday Morning before going to my conference, I checked the status of my sub request and discovered that a sub had not yet been found. At this point, I decided not to go to my conference and hoped that a sub would show up on Friday. Prior to Kelly taking over, I was always able to find a sub.(especially on a Friday because Sudents leave at 12:30 and it is an easy day.)On that Friday my class was sent to other classrooms. I have had additional students in my class and learning, I assure you,is greatly affected.

If the SFPS would increase substitute pay,we would be able to be selective and have qualified people apply.SFPS seeks an easy solutions by throwing money at an agency that does not understand education. If this money was used to increase substitutes pay,I can rest assure you that we would have a very long list of qualified substitutes.
